We are looking forward to Literacy week this week, and hopefully a return to a more normal schedule! Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult winter.
Literacy Week - Jan 26-30
Monday, Jan 26th: Teacher SWAP
Tuesday, Jan 27th: Dress as your favourite book character OR dress as a rhyme with a friend (cat and hat; cool and tool)
Wednesday, Jan 28: Wear the alphabet.
Thursday, Jan 29: Fort and Flashlights
There will also be a week of book trivia created by our 7/8 classes.
Dental Presentations
Many classes will participate in dental presentations on Monday.

If it's a snow day, the presentation will be rescheduled.
Talent Show - Postponed until Wednesday Feb 4th!
Due to all of the snow days, the talent show has been postponed until Wednesday, February 4th. Hopefully we get at least a couple more regular days to rehearse. Next week, performers will be invited to rehearse during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the 4th, we will have a show at 2:00 and at 5:00. All classes will be invited to watch the 2:00pm show.
January 16th Skating Day has been rescheduled to February 27th from 11:00-1:00 for Grades 4/5, 4/5, 5/6 and 6,7, 8

School Day Schedule
Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
Each Sunday, Bath P.S. will send home a link to this weekly newsletter (Knights News) including information about the week ahead along with other information about upcoming events, our School Council, volunteer opportunities and more. However, LDSB also has a range of other communication tools to help you stay informed.

Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

Bath School Advisory Council
Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is March 13th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. We are pleased to be able to provide it during the meeting for those who require it.
School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.

Indigenous Student Leadership Team
Liv Rondeau and Rae McDonald will be coming to work with the Indigenous Student Leadership Team (Gr. 3-8) on the following dates from 9:30 - 11:30:
September 26th, October 30th, November 28th, December 19th, January 27, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 28th, June 19th
They will be working on a mural to showcase the importance of reconciliation and indigenous ways of knowing, as well year-long land-based programing. If we have missed anyone who self-identifies as Indigenous and would like to be a part of this group, please let us know.
