Dear Bath Families,
June has arrived, and the final stretch of the school year is well underway. As we spend more time outdoors enjoying the warmer weather, we kindly ask that students come prepared with sunscreen and hats for sun protection. While sandals and Crocs are comfortable, please also ensure your child has appropriate running shoes available so they can safely participate in outdoor activities and physical education.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our School Advisory Council for their generous support in funding Michael Laughlin presentation on Friday. What a great way to end our week! Michael's powerful story of resilience and perseverance was an inspiring experience for our students.
Over the coming weeks, we will also be conducting several fire drills to ensure that our emergency procedures remain well understood and up to date.
Goodbye Mr. Collins, Welcome Mr. Boyce
As shared previously, Kevin Collins—who has made a significant and positive impact in his role as Vice Principal and Student Support Teacher—will be moving to École Maple Public School in September. We are grateful for his leadership and dedication to our school community, and while he will be missed, we wish him continued success in his new role. We are also pleased to welcome Drew Boyce, currently Vice Principal at Amherstview Public School, who will be joining our team this fall. We look forward to the experience and energy he will bring to Bath.
Brave
Brave Education will be returning from June 9–11 to deliver classroom-based workshops focused on conflict resolution and student well-being. Supporting positive mental health and relationships remains a key priority for our school. Building on last year’s introductory sessions, these workshops will continue to strengthen students’ social-emotional skills and promote respectful, inclusive interactions.
Workshop topics include:
- Building Emotional Regulation (Kindergarten to Grade 2)
- Bullying, Conflict, and Relationships (Grades 3–7)
- Bystander Awareness (Grade 8)

PIC Speaker Event
The Limestone District School Board Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is hosting a virtual speaker event on Friday, June 5, focused on cyber safety and emerging issues. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.
Graduation
Our Grade 8 students are busy preparing for their upcoming graduation, which will be held on June 23 from 6:00–7:00 p.m., followed by a celebratory dance. While there is no limit on guest attendance, families are asked to RSVP with the number of attendees to help us plan seating accordingly.
We also encourage families to submit a baby photo for the graduation slideshow. Photos can be emailed to Ms. MacDonald at bathp@limestone.on.ca.
As part of our tradition, Grade 7 families are invited to contribute food or drinks for the event, or alternatively, make a donation through School-Day.
We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our graduates and their families. Grade 8 students should also note that their graduation trip will take place on Thursday, June 18, with destination details to be shared soon.

Limestone District School Board is proud to participate in Pride celebrations again this year, and we invite students, staff, and families to join us at upcoming Pride parades in our communities. Everyone is welcome.
Supports for Students and Families
We know many members of our school community are still carrying the weight of the recent months. Supports remain in place and will continue to be available for as long as they are needed. Counselling staff and mental health supports are available to students and staff who may benefit from them.
Student safety remains our highest priority. We take all concerns related to safety and wellbeing seriously and are committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment across all our schools.
As shared with you on Friday, Limestone has engaged an outside party to conduct a review of the existing policies and procedures related to safe schools, to identify any areas where improvements could be made, and to provide any potential recommendations. The board has engaged Dr. Wendy Craig from Queen’s University who brings expertise related to safe schools to lead this review.
As a school our focus continues to be supporting students, staff, and families as we continue to grieve and heal together as a community.
We remain committed to working with families to maintain a safe and respectful school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out if your student may benefit from additional support.
Signs that may signal a mental health concern in your child:

Difficult events can affect adults as well as children. Paying attention to your own well-being—by taking breaks, connecting with trusted supports, and allowing yourself time to process—can help you feel more steady and better able to support your child.

Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

Bath School Advisory Council
Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is May 27th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.

Indigenous Student Leadership Team
Liv Rondeau and Rae McDonald will be coming to work with the Indigenous Student Leadership Team (Gr. 3-8) on the following dates from 9:30 - 11:30:
September 26th, October 30th, November 28th, December 19th, January 27, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 28th, June 19th
They will be working on a mural to showcase the importance of reconciliation and indigenous ways of knowing, as well year-long land-based programing. If we have missed anyone who self-identifies as Indigenous and would like to be a part of this group, please let us know.
