It has felt good to return from March Break, to be together, and to focus learning, community and connection.

Puppet Show
On Thursday, March 26, we were delighted to welcome Chad Solomon to Bath Public School. Chad brings Anishinaabe teachings to life through humour, storytelling, puppetry, and engaging performance. He presented a puppet show for our primary students (Kindergarten–Grade 3) in the gym, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Junior basketball, running club, knitting club, chess club, and LEGO robotics are all in full swing. We are incredibly appreciative of our outstanding educators who consistently go above and beyond to provide these enriching opportunities for our students.
Supporting Math at Home
Looking for ways to support your child’s math learning at home? Board games and card games are an excellent way to build fact fluency, automaticity, and confidence in math. We have noticed that students who regularly play number-based games at home often show stronger math skills at school.
Book Fair
Our Spring Book Fair will take place from April 7–10. Students will have opportunities to browse and purchase books throughout the week. Bring on the books!
Student Support
We continue to monitor student well-being and provide support where needed. Please keep an eye out for signs that your child may be struggling to process their emotions, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel they may benefit from additional support.
Signs that may signal a mental health concern in your child:
- Frequent changes in mood or emotions
- Persistent sadness or loss of interest in usual activities
- Increased need for reassurance or contact
- Irritability or low frustration tolerance
- Changes in energy, sleep, or appetite
- Declining motivation, effort, or academic performance
Difficult events can affect adults as well as children. Paying attention to your own well-being—by taking breaks, connecting with trusted supports, and allowing yourself time to process—can help you feel more steady and better able to support your child.

Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
Each Sunday, Bath P.S. will send home a link to this weekly newsletter (Knights News) including information about the week ahead along with other information about upcoming events, our School Council, volunteer opportunities and more. However, LDSB also has a range of other communication tools to help you stay informed.

Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

Bath School Advisory Council
Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is March 25th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. We are pleased to be able to provide it during the meeting for those who require it.
School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.

Indigenous Student Leadership Team
Liv Rondeau and Rae McDonald will be coming to work with the Indigenous Student Leadership Team (Gr. 3-8) on the following dates from 9:30 - 11:30:
September 26th, October 30th, November 28th, December 19th, January 27, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 28th, June 19th
They will be working on a mural to showcase the importance of reconciliation and indigenous ways of knowing, as well year-long land-based programing. If we have missed anyone who self-identifies as Indigenous and would like to be a part of this group, please let us know.
