Dear Bath Families,
Congratulations to our Senior Girls and Boys Basketball teams on their participation in their respective tournaments. It was wonderful to see the growth and development they demonstrated throughout the season. A huge thank you to our coaches for providing these valuable opportunities for our students.
We are truly fortunate to be part of such a supportive community. Brookland Homes has generously donated $1,000 to Bath PS to support outdoor spring sports equipment. This donation will be used to purchase a variety of balls and play equipment for outdoor use once the weather warms up.
We have also received generous donations for our breakfast program from St. Linus Church and the Loyalist Country Club. We are incredibly grateful for their continued recognition and support of our students.
Students have been having a great deal of fun in the gym and outdoors participating in our own Olympic Challenges. Due to Friday’s snow day, our Closing Ceremonies and PRIDE Assembly celebrating Integrity have been rescheduled for Monday at 2:00 p.m. We are also hopeful that winter conditions will allow us to enjoy our fabulous skating rink for a little while longer.
2026-2027 School Year Calendar
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the 2026-2027 School Year Calendar Survey. Approximately 3,700 responses were submitted from families, staff, and community members. We appreciate your time and providing the feedback.
As shared previously, the school year calendar for 2026-2027 presents unique challenges, with Labour Day falling unusually late on September 7, and Easter occurring just four days after March Break. Across all three school boards (Limestone DSB, Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic DSB, and Hastings and Prince Edward County DSB) Option 1 was the preferred choice, and Option 2 ranked second and third, with only marginal differences in support.
Following further review of the potential calendars, and considering potential financial implications, it was determined that implementing Option 1 would create additional costs for all three boards. Given that Option 2 very closely aligns with Option 1, differing by only one day and without the associated financial implications, all three boards supported Option 2, with the school year starting September 1 (P.A. Day) and the first day of classes for students on September 2.
At Wednesday night’s Board Meeting, the Limestone Board of Trustees approved Option 2 for the 2026-2027 school year calendar, and this calendar will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.

2026-2027 Virtual School Survey
Families interested in enrolling their students in virtual school for the 2026-2027 school year should complete the Virtual School Survey. This helps with early planning for the next school year. This virtual school survey is not for registration and families will need to contact Elementary Virtual School to officially register their students for next year. If you have more than one student interested, please complete the survey for each student. The survey will remain open until Friday, March 13, 2026. Families can access the survey online. If you require a printed survey, please contact Principal Kate Myers by e-mail.

This website was shared by our community health nurse as a go-to site for information and resources around screens, media, and school age children and youth - Centre for Healthy Screen Use at the Canadian Paediatric Society.

Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

Bath School Advisory Council
Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is March 13th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. We are pleased to be able to provide it during the meeting for those who require it.
School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.

Indigenous Student Leadership Team
Liv Rondeau and Rae McDonald will be coming to work with the Indigenous Student Leadership Team (Gr. 3-8) on the following dates from 9:30 - 11:30:
September 26th, October 30th, November 28th, December 19th, January 27, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 28th, June 19th
They will be working on a mural to showcase the importance of reconciliation and indigenous ways of knowing, as well year-long land-based programing. If we have missed anyone who self-identifies as Indigenous and would like to be a part of this group, please let us know.
