open house

Dear Families,

We’ve wrapped up another beautiful week at school! Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to get to know their students as learners. Through reading and math assessments, they’re identifying strengths and areas for growth to help guide their instruction and support each child’s success.

We’re excited for our Terry Fox Walk and Open House this Thursday!

Our Terry Fox Run, Walk, and Roll will take place on Thursday, September 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. We are very excited to take part in this annual tradition that supports cancer research while building school spirit. Families who plan to join us should let their classroom teachers know in advance.

Families can support our school's fundraising efforts by making a donation online - thank you for your support!

https://schools.terryfox.ca/BathPS

The Open House (5:00-6:00pm) is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet their child’s teachers and explore the classroom environment. Please note that this event is not intended for individual progress discussions—however, you’re always welcome to schedule a separate meeting if needed.

As part of the event, hot dogs, drinks, chips, and other canteen items will be available for purchase to support our Grade 8 Graduation fundraiser. To help reduce waste, we kindly ask families to pre-order hot dogs through School-Day. Other canteen items will be available for cash purchase on the day. We hope this will be a fun way for families to enjoy time together outdoors as a school community.

Sports Update:

  • Soccer: Our Senior Boys and Girls teams are training hard for their upcoming tournaments next week. A huge thank you to our teacher coaches for volunteering their time during this short but intense season. Go Knights Go!
  • Cross-Country: Training continues daily. Students who can consistently run their age-group race distance without stopping will be invited to participate in the Fort Henry Race on October 10th.

Breakfast Program: We’re thrilled with the success of our breakfast program, serving approximately 100 students daily! Now that we’re in a routine, we’re ready to accept donations from the community. We welcome contributions of bread, Cheerios (plain or multigrain), Shreddies, bagels, or English muffins.

For families wishing to donate financially, a charitable fund named "Bath Food Program" has been set up. Donations over $20.00 are eligible for tax receipts and can be made at the school by cheque or cash. A heartfelt thank you to the Lions Club, School Council, and our amazing volunteers—we couldn’t run this program without you!

Hot Lunch & Milk Programs: Starting in October:

  • Milk will be available daily.
  • Hot Lunch options:
    • Tuesdays: Papa’s
    • Thursdays: Subway
    • Fridays: Gino’s

To order, please create an account at http://www.lunchboxorders.net.

Looking forward to another great week ahead!

Sincerely,

Human Development and Sexual Health

As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8.  Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

insurance

Student Accident Insurance

The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.

Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.

In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.

A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. Or, for your convenience, you may purchase directly online at www.insuremykids.com.

School Trips and Volunteers

Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.
