January

Bath's got talent

Dear Bath Families,

As the days begin to feel a bit longer, we are looking forward to an exciting and active February at Bath Public School. With January’s weather disruptions behind us, we are ready to bring lots of fun and learning into the coming weeks.

Bath's Got Talent

Our rescheduled Talent Show will take place on Wednesday, and we are excited to see students showcase their many talents. We hope you are able to join us for either the 2:00 or 5:00pm performance. Students in Grade 1 - 3 are presenting with their class and some brave students from Grade 4-8 are sharing talents on their own. We can't wait!

Bath Winter Olympics

Throughout February, we will also be launching our very own Bath Winter Olympics, inspired by the upcoming Winter Games. Students will have the chance to participate in a variety of outdoor and indoor events during recess and gym classes, including snowman building, bobsled races, curling, scooter hockey, and more. Each Colour House will represent a country, and students will earn points for their team by participating in and winning events. Our Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday, February 6., and our Closing Ceremonies—combined with our next PRIDE Assembly —will happen on Friday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m., when we will celebrate students who demonstrate integrity.

School Skating Rink

We are also hoping to make good use of our outdoor skating rink - we are so appreciative of our firefighters and community volunteers for making this happen. It hasn't been an easy winter so far!

Ukuleles

In music news, we are excited to share that School Council has purchased ten new ukuleles for students, and Bath Public School will also be receiving a new set of musical instruments through the Limestone Learning Foundation as part of the Sounds aBound program, supporting hands‑on music learning in alignment with the Ontario curriculum.

Black History Month

February is Black History Month, an important time for students to learn about and honour the achievements, experiences, and lasting contributions of Black Canadians. This year’s theme, “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations—From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries,” will guide learning across classrooms throughout the month.

We look forward to a wonderful month filled with school spirit, celebration, and meaningful learning. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school community.

Human Development and Sexual Health

As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8.  Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

stay informedInformation Sharing

Each Sunday, Bath P.S. will send home a link to this weekly newsletter (Knights News) including information about the week ahead along with other information about upcoming events, our School Council, volunteer opportunities and more. However, LDSB also has a range of other communication tools to help you stay informed.

To help users become more familiar with these new tools, please refer to these user guides:

insurance

Student Accident Insurance

The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.

Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.

In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.

A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.

If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. Or, for your convenience, you may purchase directly online at www.insuremykids.com.

SAC

Bath School Advisory Council

Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is March 13th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. We are pleased to be able to provide it during the meeting for those who require it.

School Trips and Volunteers

Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.
