Dear Bath Families,
We have another short week ahead as we continue through the busy month of May.
We would also like to share a staffing update for next year. Kevin Collins, who has done an outstanding job as our Vice Principal and Student Support Teacher, will be moving to École Maple Public School in September. We are grateful for his leadership and the positive impact he has had on our school community, and while he will be greatly missed, we know he will continue to do wonderful work at Maple.
At the same time, we are pleased to welcome Drew Boyce, currently Vice Principal at Amherstview Public School, to Bath. Mr. Boyce brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, and we look forward to him joining our team in the fall.
Upcoming Presentations
We are very excited to have several meaningful upcoming presentations for students.
On May 28 at 2:00 p.m., Michael Laughlin will present to the whole school. Michael is a professional speaker and Canada’s first above-the-knee amputee to work full-time as a firefighter. His story of resilience includes overcoming significant personal challenges, and his presentation will be age-appropriate for our students. This opportunity is funded by SAC—thank you for your support.
Brave Education will return from June 9–11 to deliver conflict resolution workshops in each classroom.
Supporting student well-being continues to be a central focus at our school. Last year, all classes were introduced to Brave through in-class workshops, and we are pleased to build on that foundation this year. These sessions are designed to strengthen students’ social-emotional skills, helping them develop healthy relationships and promote positive, respectful interactions throughout our school community.

PIC Speaker Event
The LDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is hosting a virtual speaker event on Friday, June 5, focused on cyber safety and emerging issues.

Graduation
It’s hard to believe that our Grade 8 students are already preparing for their graduation ceremony. This special event will take place on June 23 from 6:00–7:00 p.m., followed by a dance to celebrate.
While there is no limit on the number of guests, we kindly ask families to RSVP with the number of attendees so we can ensure there is enough seating. We also invite families to share a baby photo of their graduate for our slideshow—these can be emailed to Ms. MacDonald at bathp@limestone.on.ca.
In keeping with tradition, Grade 7 families are asked to contribute food and drinks for the event, or alternatively, make a monetary donation through School-Day.
We are looking forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with our graduates and their families. Grade 8 students should also mark their calendars for the graduation trip on Thursday, June 18. The destination will be revealed on Monday, with more details to follow.

Limestone District School Board is proud to participate in Pride celebrations again this year, and we invite students, staff, and families to join us at upcoming Pride parades in our communities. Everyone is welcome.
Supports for Students and Families
We know many members of our school community are still carrying the weight of the recent months. Supports remain in place and will continue to be available for as long as they are needed. Counselling staff and mental health supports are available to students and staff who may benefit from them.
Student safety remains our highest priority. We take all concerns related to safety and wellbeing seriously and are committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment across all our schools.
As shared with you on Friday, Limestone has engaged an outside party to conduct a review of the existing policies and procedures related to safe schools, to identify any areas where improvements could be made, and to provide any potential recommendations. The board has engaged Dr. Wendy Craig from Queen’s University who brings expertise related to safe schools to lead this review.
As a school our focus continues to be supporting students, staff, and families as we continue to grieve and heal together as a community.
We remain committed to working with families to maintain a safe and respectful school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out if your student may benefit from additional support.

Difficult events can affect adults as well as children. Paying attention to your own well-being—by taking breaks, connecting with trusted supports, and allowing yourself time to process—can help you feel more steady and better able to support your child.

Human Development and Sexual Health
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

Each Sunday, Bath P.S. will send home a link to this weekly newsletter (Knights News) including information about the week ahead along with other information about upcoming events, our School Council, volunteer opportunities and more. Student Accident Insurance
The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the Provincial Health Plan, or purchase an insurance plan.
Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.
In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.
A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.
If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. Bath School Advisory Council
Our fabulous parent council is looking for new members! If you would like to be a part of this great team, please come to our next meeting date is May 27th at 6:30. We are looking forward to meeting in the library. Please let us know if you can make it and if you will require childcare. We are pleased to be able to provide it during the meeting for those who require it.

School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.

Indigenous Student Leadership Team
Liv Rondeau and Rae McDonald will be coming to work with the Indigenous Student Leadership Team (Gr. 3-8) on the following dates from 9:30 - 11:30:
September 26th, October 30th, November 28th, December 19th, January 27, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 28th, June 19th
They will be working on a mural to showcase the importance of reconciliation and indigenous ways of knowing, as well year-long land-based programing. If we have missed anyone who self-identifies as Indigenous and would like to be a part of this group, please let us know.
