The energy was fantastic, and both students and teachers were excited to welcome you into our classrooms and share the amazing work we've been doing together.On Friday afternoon, all classes participated in a community walk around the neighbourhood to raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation. Not only was it a meaningful way to support a great cause, but it was also a lovely opportunity to enjoy time outdoors together in our beautiful community.It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into October!Our School Council held its first meeting this week and successfully elected this year’s executive team. We’re looking forward to a great year of collaboration and school spirit. It's a time for us to learn about their stories, show respect, and work towards a future where everyone is treated fairly and with kindness. The color orange reminds us that every child matters and that we should always support each other. This year, our school has set a special intention for the year: We are pleased to welcome Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk—a Métis culture expert, accomplished fiddle player, and educator—who will share her knowledge and artistry with our Grade 3–8 students. The assembly is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:15 AM in the gym and is expected to last approximately one hour.“Métis Music, Story & Fiddle” – Elementary Assembly (Grades 3–8): A fun, interactive performance that introduces young students to Métis culture through traditional fiddle music, storytelling, and engaging songs tied to Social Studies, Music, and Language outcomes.New soccer balls!! - Thank you to Logan McArthur and familiy and the Lions club for donating new outdoor soccer balls for our school!Fire Drills - We have two fire drills scheduled for next week. Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. Applications received after this date are currently being processed with a start date of mid-September so that bus drivers, school staff, and families can get to know their routes. Families will need to make alternative travel arrangements for students to get to school until the “start date” indicated in the Student Portal. Requests to switch buses or stop locations will not be reviewed until late September or early October. Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company.A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board.If you wish to subscribe to this insurance, you may do so by completing the form handed out to students the first week of school and mailing it directly to Reliable Life Insurance Company in the stamped envelope provided. It’s wonderful to see so many smiling faces engaged in both learning and play. We wrapped up the week with a bake sale and a whole-school outdoor activity, which brought everyone together in such a joyful way. Students also took part in two exciting challenges: the first was a race against the principal—many participated and many were victorious. The second was a race against an Olympian—many gave it their best effort, but no one could beat the champion! A big thank you to Mme. Lalonde for bringing such fun and energy to our school; we were truly impressed by your skill.Meanwhile, our garden is thriving and producing plenty of spaghetti squash. If you have a recipe your child’s class might enjoy trying, please feel free to send it in. The squash should be ripe very soon. A big thank you to the Smith family for donating good quality top soil to help our garden grow!Bake sale - Thank you for supporting the Grade 3 class in their efforts to raise money to purchase a tree for the playground gardens to be planted this fall. With all the generous donations and purchases, they achieved their goal! We raised an amazing $825.00! We will keep you posted on the planting!Extracurriculars - Soccer and Cross-Country are underway! It is a very short season, especially for soccer with tournaments happening this week! Please watch out for tournament permission forms coming home in School Day and make sure to return them ASAP. School-Day was not working on Friday so some permission forms were just sent out this morning. Cross-country practices are running every day during second nutrition break so students are reminded to come prepared to run with proper footwear and athletic clothing.Breakfast ProgramThe Bath Breakfast Program started this week, it was great to see so many kids enjoying a healthy breakfast together. A huge thank you to the many generous individuals and groups whose donations have made this possible and to our wonderful volunteers!! Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. We run for fitness, fun, and friendly competition, with the goal of becoming stronger runners. Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire. In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company. A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board. It is a win, win with food for food- fresh food for your house and our school will use the money that is raised for our snack bin & food program at school*This is a one-time ordering opportunity!Thank you for your consideration! <hr> <img src="/images/321bfdb0-7b47-449b-860d-9689704f8a34?fingerprint=ppb20251217013446" alt="insurance" width="135" height="153" style="width:135px;height:153px;display:inline-block"><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Student Accident Insurance</h3>The Limestone District School Board requires that students have student accident insurance in order to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before students will be allowed to participate in these events, parents/guardians must confirm their own coverage for items not covered under the <a href="http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/services.aspx" rel="nofollow noreferrer" class="editor-link">Provincial Health Plan</a>, or purchase an insurance plan. Each year a Student Accident Insurance Plan is made available to all students on a voluntary basis. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire. In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Although the policy has all the advantages of a group plan, it is essentially a direct contract between the parent and the insurance company. A family plan is also available for three or more students which permits the enrolment of students in the family who are attending schools outside the jurisdiction of this Board as long as at least one child in the family is attending a school within the Limestone District School Board. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support. However you choose to spend your summer, I hope you make the most of the months ahead.To the graduating Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Whether your next step is college, university, an apprenticeship, the workforce or another pathway, I wish you every success in the years ahead.As families look ahead to September and the start of a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind. Ontario schools will continue to focus on helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing and math while preparing them for success beyond the classroom. Students in elementary schools will learn from the same core materials and benefit from a revised Kindergarten curriculum focused on foundational literacy, math and science skills. In Grade 7 and 8, updated History courses will include new mandatory content on the history of Black Canadians.In high schools, students in Grade 10 History will have new learning about Black history, the Holocaust and Holodomor. Students will also be required to demonstrate financial literacy as part of earning their high school diploma. To help provide clearer expectations and a more comprehensive picture of student achievement, high school students will complete written final exams during a dedicated exam period, and attendance and classroom participation will form part of their final grade. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture.
